Compared to AK300 the AK70 sounds sticky and dull.īut how is the new second version? In the new AK70 MKII the circuits should have been improved and then there are 2 DACs now… Someone said, that tested both AK300 and the first AK70, the AK300 is in every aspect better…, more details, better depth and loose separation between the instruments, cleaner. It is said that the AK4490 is the best DAC on the market. If both have a single DAC the AK300 is superior of course. The price should not matter anymore if you consider to buy one of them, because both are already ****in expensive… But if the quality of both is nearly the same I would choose the cheaper on of course. Price: I could get the AK70 MKII for 160 $ less than the AK300. I’m not sure if I will use this feature ever… The AK300 has a parametric EQ, AK70 MKII not. The AK300 has a slightly bigger display, but the resolution of both is the same.
The battery in the AK300 is larger 3100 vs 2500mAh, larger battery is better of course The output level for balanced output is better in AK70 MKII (4 vs 1.98 Vrms), but I don’t plan to use a balanced output soon I guess… I like the design of the AK70 MKII more, especially the oversized volume control with the blue detail The AK300 exists an half a year ago ? already, both can be considered as up to date models yet.ĭimensions: AK70 MKII is more handier and 50g lighter The AK70 MKII is the latest DAP from Astell&Kern and was just released some weeks ago.
